a cry for help!

3 min read
So I've never really used this journal thingy before, but it might be useful in this instance.

My problem is that I am planning to buy a wacom tablet intuos4 and am having loads of issues. Some of you might be familiar with the nib wear issue and here's a thread on Wacom's support forum forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f…

After lots of searching I have come to several fixes which I shall list:
- set the pressure sensitivity very low
- buy more nibs (f u wacom, 20 euro for little pieces of plastic)
- toothpick nibs
- paper or other material over your expensive "professional" product
- using a cut down intuos3 overlay which I've heard people speculate about, but no one seems to have come up with an answer (this also seems like the best idea so far, but i've no evidence)
- a metal or brass nib which sounds really great, but over some protective surface (boo)
-buying a intuos3, which I was, but for one i can't get a medium at a decent price because I would need someone to buy and ship it for me, also amazon ran out of most of them recently so they aren't at cheap prices anymore, i'm guessing people wised up to the issues

and that's basically what i have so far
till now the nib or surface issue is the only thing preventing me from buying an intuos4 medium which can be shipped to europe and would be cheaper that way than buying it from here

so my cry for help is this: if you know anyone who actually owns an intuos4 please ask him about this issue and tell me about it. i can't tell how exaggerated the claims really are. if you know anyone or have them at your school please ask about them or look at them and see how worn down they are

ps: i have a friend's bamboo that i am playing around and the white plastic nib on that one looks like it will last forever
of course you might say why should i not buy a bamboo then? well i want to draw more than lines and have tilt, not to mention more buttons

so again if you know anyone who owns the latest intuos please ask him how severe this problem is and how often he had to change his nibs
